The 20-year-old man with a gun walked into the Advance Auto Parts store in the 800-block of East 147th Street around 8 p.m. and tried to rob the store, police said.

He ran out of the store and toward a customer, who told police the suspect had a gun.

Over the last few days, there have been a lot of attacks on Dr. Lott research after his testimony to the President’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity.  One of the common lines of attack has been that he testified in an area where he is not an expert.

Gun sales down from record 2016 levels, but still higher than previous years.

Gun control advocates live in a media bubble.  After Lois Becket wrote a story in the Guardian that focuses on how gun sales for one company have fallen, the Washington Post’s Christopher Ingraham followed up, thinking that anything showing that gun sales are down as great news.  While it might be tempting to look at the sales of one or two publicly traded companies, the firearm industry has a large number of very small firms, and looking at one or two companies (even if larger than others) may not give a very good measure of total sales.  …


Who needs right-to-carry? New status symbol for the very wealthy: armed bodyguards

Have an extra $2,000?  For that amount, you can hire two armed body guards to travel with you for a day while you are in Europe.  Foreigners visiting the US, who obviously can’t get a permit to carry a concealed handgun, are also hiring armed bodyguards.  Concealed carry for foreigners simply isn’t an option.…
