Updated: Murder and homicide rates before and after gun bans

Original post: Every place that has banned guns (either all guns or all handguns) has seen murder rates go up. You cannot point to one place where murder rates have fallen, whether it’s Chicago or D.C. or even island nations such as England, Jamaica, or Ireland.

Another gun ban, another bad outcome: Venezuela homicide rate rose after 2012 ban on private ownership of guns

Private gun ownership was banned in Venezuela in June 2012, but their homicide rate went from 73 per 100,000 people in 2012 to 82 per 100,000 people in 2015.  A private organization, the Venezuelan Violence Observatory (OVV), puts the rate in 2015 at over 90 per 100,000 people.   The BBC seriously repeats the Venezuelan government’s claim that the ban is an “attempt by the government to improve security and cut crime.”  …

Army Chief of Staff General Mark Milley says 8 minute response time in mass public shootings is “adequate” and “pretty quick,” opposes letting soldiers carry weapons on military bases

Here is a video clip of the Army chief of staff testifying on April 7th that it isn’t necessary to arm soldiers on military bases, such as Fort Hood attack, because:
“We have adequate law enforcement on those bases to respond … You take the Fort Hood incident number two, the one where I was the commander of Third Corps, those police responded within eight minutes and that guy was dead.”

Self-Defense leads to fatal shooting at Mandeville gas station, police say.

MANDEVILLE, La. — A shooting at a gas station left one person dead in a possible of self-defense case.

According to Mandeville Police, the shooting happened at the Shell station, at 3959 Highway 22.

Police said two people, both males, were involved and both were customers at the gas station.
