John Lott’s newest piece at National Review starts this way:

From Georgia to California, Democratic legislators have introduced bills to ban all semi-automatic rifles or even all semi-automatics, period.

John Lott has an op-ed at LifeZette on whether there is the claimed support for background checks on private gun transfers.

Gun control advocates like President Obama keep claiming that 80 to 90 percent of Americans are in favor of expanded background check legislation. Only, it’s not true.

Liberal fact checkers were less than thrilled with any objections to this false orthodoxy.

Kleck suggested that concealed-carry laws don’t even increase the carrying of guns; instead, they just legalize what people were doing anyway. In response, Lott pointed out that the rising number of concealed-carry permits has roughly tracked the rise of guns found by the TSA, suggesting that permits do make a difference.

CPRC interviewed by The Press Enterprise (Riverside, CA) on new California legislation to ban semi-automatic rifles accept detachable magazines and fire centerfire ammunition

John Lott talked to The Press Enterprise’s Richard De Atley:

Attorney General Kamala Harris and Assemblyman David Chiu, D-San Francisco, announced the bill — AB1663 — saying it would close what Harris called the “bullet button loophole” for weapons currently legal in California.

“This is a common sense solution that closes a dangerous loophole in California’s assault weapons ban,” Harris said in a statement.
